Mama Saan Relaunches, Bringing Live Music to Bondi Five Night a Week

Drink, Eat, Sydney / 22 December 2021

Cultural Institution Mama Saan relaunches, bringing a new menu, design and live music five nights a week to Bondi.

Following their relaunch to the public in October (2021), Mama Saan is welcoming diners back to experience the brand-new menu, extensive redesign, and impressive live music offering.

The reinvigorated menu by Head Chef, Voltaire Silva centres around high end Japanese street food designed to share. Taking inspiration from past travels to Japan, bar hopping around Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo, you’ll also find it infused into the cocktail and drinks menu as classics get a Japanese twist, like the house-favourite ‘Tokyo Sour’ with Bison Grass Vodka, house made raspberry liqueur and Sancho pepper.

Voltaire Silva says “I want to bring flavours of my travels to some contemporary shared bites to the locals. There will be unique flavours and pairings which I believe a lot of people won’t have tasted in Sydney.”Mama-Saan
The more casual outdoor seating offers the perfect spot to enjoy an afternoon drink. Order a cocktail, soak in the afternoon sun and enjoy the prime people watching position on the bustling Beach Road. If staying for dinner, head inside where the music gets louder, the décor quirkier and neon lights and cherry blossom trees will transport you to Kyoto.

Inside tables offer a finer-dining feel, with a perfect spot to enjoy the live music – though we aren’t kidding when we say it’s louder so be warned it is not the spot if you’re trying to catch up with an old friend. Must-try dishes include the Kimchi Cumber and sashimi tacos, mozzarella bao buns and the Karaage Chicken, or Karaage Cauliflower for our vege-friends. MamaSaan
The revamped menu offers locals a lot to be excited about but where they really set themselves apart is in their line-up of live music five nights a week. Ranging from an upbeat DJ set on a Friday to the soulful sounds of Jazz on a Sunday afternoon. Following months of lockdown, Mama Saan is paving the way for a renewed live music scene in Bondi and championing local music and community.

Mama Saan Co-Founder, Andrew Wallace notes, “Our vision for Mama Saan was to create a unique and alternate experience, to do our part in re-energizing Sydney’s hospitality scene. We serve quality food and drink, yet we are not just a bar or restaurant, but everything in-between. We want to challenge the norm, in terms of what you feel inside a venue that focuses on live music, friendly service and delicious food/drinks.”

And they have done just that. Mama Saan has nailed all elements of a great venue and it oozes good vibes right out onto the street. Offering sophisticated, fresh and consistently delicious Asian-fusion, live music that brings a fun and upbeat vibe and the blade runner meets backstreets-of-Tokyo décor which transports you away from everyday life.
