Circular Quay’s Hacienda Bar & Lounge has undergone a stylish refresh, bringing a revamped menu, bold cocktails, and a fresh aesthetic to its harbourside perch.
The Latin-inspired venue has long been a favorite for its unbeatable views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, and its latest reinvention adds even more reason to visit.
The new menu, designed by Rosy Scatigna (formerly of Bar Morris and Shell House) alongside Executive Chef Jiwon Do, offers a creative take on Latin American flavours with an Australian twist. It’s all about share plates, from poached prawns with espelette pepper to grilled oyster mushrooms with mole blanco. The swordfish a la Plancha with tomatillo salsa verde and the crab linguine with charred habanero bring bold, fresh flavours, while lighter bites like the lobster tostadas keep things vibrant and versatile. Adding a touch of drama is the new signature tableside French fries service, where perfectly crispy fries are served with a selection of elevated sauces for a unique twist on a crowd favorite.
On the drinks front, Hacienda’s new cocktail menu is a standout, crafted by Proof Creative to reinterpret Latin classics with a local edge. Highlights include the Luz Dorada, a zingy mix of citrus vodka, Aperol, and pink grapefruit oil, and the Verde, featuring rum, cucumber, and lime leaves. Plus, the Golden Hour menu (4-6pm, Tuesday to Friday) offers $15 margaritas with creative twists—try the Picante for a spicy kick, the classic Tommy’s, or the smoky Fuma.
With refreshed interiors featuring lush greenery, golden accents, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing those famous views, Hacienda is ready to reclaim its spot as a top harbourside destination. Add live Afro-Cuban jazz and elevated bar snacks like the Habanero smash burger, and you’ve got a venue that delivers day to night.
