It’s Back! Get ready for Good Food Month 2014

Australia’s biggest food festival, Good Food Month 2014 is back and foodies from all over Sydney and regional New South Wales are preparing for a complete food and drink extravaganza. Here are our picks for what to check out during October:

Night Noodle Market, Hyde Park

Polish up your chopstick wielding skills, the Night Noodle Markets are coming back bigger and better than ever. From October  9th to 26th you can indulge in pork buns, crispy noodles, duck pancakes and gyoza to your hearts content. Mon-Tue 5-9pm; Wed 5-10pm; Thu-Fri 5-11pm; Sat 4-10pm; Sun 4-9pm.

Good Food Fair, Newtown

In celebration of the growing culinary playground of Newtown, twelve of the best eateries will gather at Newtown Square offering up some of their signature dishes to raise funds for the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. Participating vendors include Mary’sMiss PeachesThe Animal at Newtown HotelRusso and RussoBloodwoodRubyos, and Milk Crate Kitchen.

Eat, Drink, Think, Newtown

As part of Good Food Month and in conjunction with the Newtown Good Food Fair (see above), Secret Foodies presents Eat, Drink, Think- a day of thought provoking topics and tasty ideas. Hosted upstairs at the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre a select group of food and drink aficionados will take to the stage in a panel style discussion hosted by Ms Darlinghurst. Covering topics including The Signature Session, Ethical Produce and the Art of Fermentation the day aims to provide a platform for discussing current topics in the food sector with time for Q&A’s from you the audience. Street Food Festival, Sky Terrace, The Star

The talented chefs behind SokyoGolden CenturyMoon Park, Cho Cho San and Melbourne’s Kong and Chin Chin get together to create a one-off street-food marketplace combined with one of the best views in Sydney. This is one not to miss, $125  includes all tastings, drinks and demonstration sessions. Sunday October 19th

The Cook, The Blogger & The Photographers, Kepos Street Kitchen

Join some of Sydney’s most renound foodies, Adam Liaw – Masterchef winner & host of SBS’s Destination Flavour, Noodlies.com food writer & blogger Thang Ngo, and SMH photographers Edwina Pickles and Steven Siewert as they give you an insight into some of their best work. Tickets cost $80 and includes brunch at Kepos Street Kitchen. Saturday October 11th, 10am-1pm.

Butcher, Baker and Winemaker, Victor Churchill

Winemaker Kevin Glastonbury unlocks the 165-year-old Yalumba cellar  for this gastronomic event featuring Victor Churchill’s finest quality cuts along side Iggy’s Bread and of course paired with award-winning wines from Yalumba, Yum! $110 includes matched Yalumba wines and a glass of sparkling on arrrival, Thursday October 9th, 7pm. 

Table for Ten, Ozharvest HQ Kitchen

OzHarvest are celebrating their 10th Birthday with a series of Table for 10 dinners at the new OzHarvest HQ  alongside Good Food Month. Why not experience something unique and deliciously different whilst helping to provide meals to people in need at the same time? Tickets cost $150 and include matching wines. October 13-17th from 7pm.

Smooth Festival of Chocolate, The Rocks

Sydney’s best boutique chocolatiers, pastry chefs and ice cream makers will come together to tempt you with their creations ( which is quite easily done!) Plus there is live music and entertainment and an outdoor Garden Bar in Atherton Lane where you can grab a chocolate Martini, Chocolate Beer or maybe just a cider and kick back indulging in a cheese plate. October 4th and 5th.
