Win a Gin High Tea for 4 at The Glasshouse in Manly

Sydney / 14 November 2018

Enter a garden oasis with beachside views at The Glasshouse, the rooftop gin bar at Hotel Steyne

It seems that Australia’s love affair with gin is growing stronger by the day. If you’re looking for a botanical boost look no further than The Glasshouse. Located upstairs at Hotel Steyne in Manly you’ll find over 60 different types of gins on their back bar. The vibe upstairs is the completely different to the pub downstairs. At Glasshouse you’ll feel as though you’ve entered a sun drenched hidden garden with high glass ceilings and beautiful greenery covering the room. White picket fences separate smaller areas to catch up with friends or you can cosy up in one of their booths. On a sunny day step out onto the balcony and take a seat under their umbrellas to enjoy uninterrupted views of Manly beach and The Corso.
Peruse the cocktail list and you’ll find a selection of classics with a twist or signature botanical drinks. The bartenders can also help you create your own gin and tonic based on your flavour preferences. Think artisanal gins and premium tonics including Fever-Tree. Not into gin? Try the pomegranate margarita or lavender old fashioned instead or stick to the wine list and beers.
As the sun sets consider their tapas menu which is perfect for sharing. Delicious Italian meatballs, octopus and chorizo cooked in tomato sauce and organic grain salad with haloumi, smoked salmon or duck confit are all on the menu. They also offer three different sliders- The Japanese (barbecued eggplant, frickle, miso, shiso leaf and yuzu mayo), The Cheesy (Angus beef patty, tomato sauce, white onion, cheese, pickle and mayo) and The Spider (soft shell crab, herbs, avocado, yuzu koshu mayo).

If you love chips (who doesn’t love chips?) order the chips tasting board, a brilliant idea. Forget the boring bowl of wedges at The Glasshouse you can select three different types of chips for $15. They include zucchini fries with ranch, sweet potato fries with wasabi mayo, shoe string fries with aioli, curly fries (our favourite) with peri peri mayo and polenta with tomato jam.

For dessert there are a few options but the rack of 10 assorted bambino ice cream cones is a fun way to try lots of different flavours.

Looking for a cheap date night idea?
Go to The Glasshouse on a Thursday night and you’re in for one of the cheapest date nights in town. Gin and tonics are $10, so are the beers and negronis, Aperol Spritz and St Germain Spritz plus a selection of menu items including the meatballs, grain salad, octopus and chorizo. You could easily eat and drink like a king for less than $60 (no easy feat in Sydney).
