Glass Island Returns To Sydney Harbour This September

Bars, Cool Sh*t, Drink, Sydney / 31 August 2020

Glass Island, the Mediterranean-inspired floating bar, is back with a new offering in spring 2020.

After launching in Sydney last summer, Glass Island proved one of the most talked-about new venues to arrive in the city. However, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the floating venue was forced to close in March. But since then, the team has been working hard to redesign the Glass Island experience, and are excited to relaunch this spring with a fully seated cruising experience in September 2020.

Opening to guests on Saturday, September 19th, Glass Island will run in Sydney every weekend throughout spring. The floating bar’s large open plan middle and top decks are perfect for punters to safely visit and take in the stunning views and sea breeze with a cocktail in-hand. Sydneysiders are encouraged to gather their crew and book a private table online aboard Glass Island, with an all-new food and cocktail offering (complete with a contactless ordering system).

Glass Island has now teamed up with Simon Ekas Catering to deliver a new weekend food menu. Expect everything from the classic cheeseburger to a slow-roasted beef brisket roll with horseradish along with freshly chucked rock oysters, champagne and so much more.

As for drinks, mixologist Chis Turvey (seen behind the bar at Glass Island and Employees Only) has crafted 10 new signature cocktails, including the ‘Tan Lines & Tequila’, ‘Riptide’ and ‘Harbourside Sour’, just to name a few.

As we mentioned, Glass Island is now offering contactless ordering through me&u, allowing guests to order and pay directly from their table using their phone (avoiding any need to queue or gather at the bar).

Expect live tunes will come courtesy of the likes of resident DJs Sneaky Sound System, along with other residencies from the likes of Yolanda Be Cool, Poolclvb, Colour Castle, One Hit Agency and Audiopaxx.

Glass Island has caught the attention of punters across the city with its eye-catching design that delivers three distinct yet cohesive spaces spread across three levels.
