Sydney foodies, get ready to mark your calendars! Carriageworks Night Market is back on June 16, 2023, as part of the highly anticipated Vivid Sydney festival. This year, the festival’s focus is on food, with over 45 stalls curated by Australia’s leading sustainable chef, Matt Stone.
The market will showcase the best of sustainable food practices and produce from across New South Wales, in line with the festival’s theme, “Naturally.” Chef Matt Stone expressed his excitement about the event and revealed that the line-up of food and drink offerings is set to be impressive.
The Carriageworks Night Market promises to be a unique experience for visitors, with stalls featuring diverse offerings from some of the leading restaurants and producers in the state. From Bush Sydney’s celebration of native Australian produce to Oz Harvest’s zero-waste vegetarian menu and Brix Distillery’s exciting sustainable cocktail, visitors can expect a wide range of delicious and sustainable food and drink options.
The market highlights also include Rico’s Tacos’ menu centred on the use of sustainable wild game; Vannella Cheese’s creative use of whey by-product from their own ricotta cheese production; and a dessert from Messina featuring an apple galette made from rescued apples sourced from Farmers Pick.
One of the most exciting stalls to visit at the market is Bush Sydney. Established in 2019, the Redfern-based restaurant celebrates unique and often overlooked native Australian ingredients, sustainably harvested from the wild. Bush Sydney’s signature dishes showcase the unique flavours and textures of Australian produce, with a particular focus on using ethically and sustainably sourced ingredients.
In addition to Bush Sydney, visitors can indulge in special menu offerings by other leading restaurants such as Anason, Rockpool Bar and Grill, Porcine, Queen Chow, Spice Temple, Three Blue Ducks, Sake, Jimmy’s Falafel, Colombo Social, Kepos St Kitchen, and Rising Sun Workshop. The market will also feature fresh produce from some of New South Wales’ best producers, including LP’s Quality Meats, Bondi Oysters, and La Bastide.
Foodies can enjoy drinks from some of the best local bars and producers, such as Cantina OK!, Re, Jacoby’s Tiki Bar, Aristotelis Ke Anthoula, Archie Rose Distillery, Atomic, Wildflower, The Grifter, P&V Wine + Liquor Merchants, and more.
The Carriageworks Night Market promises an exciting and diverse array of Sydney’s food scene, featuring Native Australian, Middle Eastern, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, French, vegetarian, and vegan cuisines.
