Bartega Is Canterbury’s Newest High-End Cocktail Bar

Drink, Sydney / 6 June 2023

Bringing luxe, sophistication and delicious cocktails.

Get ready for an electrifying nightlife revival in South-West Sydney as Bartega, an artisanal cocktail bar, gears up to open its doors in Canterbury next month. Bartega feels like having a CBD cocktail bar right in your own neighbourhood – it’s the perfect fusion of elegance and charm, combining the sophistication of high-end Sydney bars with the cosy ambiance of a local spot.

Leading the way on this exciting launch is Bar Manager Tony Rudolph, a seasoned expert who has mastered his craft at renowned establishments across Sydney. With an impressive background that includes working at venues such as Peter Gilmore’s Bennelong and Woodcut at Crown Sydney, Tony brings a wealth of experience to ensure mixology ascends to an art form at Bartega. The drinks menu at Bartega can be best described as a love for flavour, fusion and experimentation, with Tony describing it as a delightful balance between playfulness and refinement. Sip on their signature Jin Cha, which combines Roku Gin, matcha, chartreuse, yuzu, and honey, all served in a traditional matcha bowl.

For food, expect a canapé style menu with shared plates and small bites to have between cocktails. The food is Asian-inspired, using local produce and Australian flavours for a fusion of mouthwatering tastes. Crowd pleasers include dishes like Sesame Coated Yellowfin Tuna, Oven Baked Brie with by organic honeycomb, pistachio, and poppy seed lavosh, alongside succulent Pork Belly Bao Buns served with Asian herbs, pickled daikon, and chilli caramel.

Bartega aims to redefine the perception of South-West Sydney, wanting to be more than just another cocktail bar. The space was designed by award-winning architect Altis Architecture, merging unique vintage elements of textures, styles and vibrant colours. The most striking is a breathtaking marble bar at the centre, and an expansive al fresco balcony, with views of lush gardens and a waterfall feature.
