Avila Cocktail Bar and Creperie

Bars, Cafes, Drink, Eat, Sydney / 1 July 2015

Crepes and cocktails anyone? Just off Glenayr Street at Bondi Beach, you’ll find this intimate and cosy café serving up Parisian crepes, cocktails to match and single-origin coffee – the triple-C threat.
Camile Dubois who is a traditional crêpiere from France is whipping up sweet and savoury Galettes (gluten-free buckwheat crepes). We had an amazing sweet Nutella, banana and strawberry crepe, which immediately transported us back to France. With savoury options like ocean trout, capers, lemon, spinach, avocado & béchamel for $19, we just wanted to try everything.
Sweet Crepe
To accompany their crepes, they have cold-pressed juices on their menu including the Elixir with orange, mandarin, grapefruit, pomegranate, lemon and thyme, for $9.50.
If you’re after something a little stronger, they have a variety of wines from France. Their beer, cider, and cocktail lists all contain options from Europe. One cocktail we really took fancy to was the Grappa Sour, which immediately made us think of Europe. The cocktail has Grappa Poli, Strega Liqueur, fresh pressed lemon juice, Avila’s camomile nectar, grapefruit bitter & egg whites, all for $16.00.
Avila Cold Pressed Juice
They import great quality products to create an atmosphere away from Bondi. With French lamps, marble bench-tops and colourful tiles, you almost forget where you are. We recommend trying this French-inspired café in the heart of Bondi.
