Strut The Streets

Play, Sydney / 4 January 2011

Walking half naked through the streets of Sydney’s CBD might not be everyones cup of tea but involve fluro Budgy Smugglers, a shot at a world record and the chance to support a great cause and  it’s amazing how many people jump at the chance to join ‘Strut The Streets‘. This was second year ‘strutters’ took to the streets to raise money for AIME (Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience). With the support of 278 people willing to strip down  to Smugglers and Smugglettes the charity raised close to $70,000. Every dollar raised will go towards the mentoring of Indigenous high school students across Australia. Leaving Martin Place and finishing at the Opera House strutters gave onlooking tourists with plenty of candid moments. The unofficial after-party was at Ivy Pool where Justin Hemmes joined in the fluro fun. Tony Hawk and his crew were also at the pool and got involved with the smuggler action!
*2010 seems to have been the year for getting your kit off…Spencer Tunick conviced 5,200 people to take it ALL off early this year!
