Prahran Market’s Say Cheese Festival Returns As A FREE Digital Event This September

Eat, Festivals, Melbourne / 21 August 2020

Cheese lovers, rejoice! Prahran Market’s annual Say Cheese Festival is going ahead (and going digital) in 2020.

Now in its seventh year, the annual Prahran Market’s Say Cheese Festival returns in 2020 like Melburnians have never seen it before. Across three days from September 10th to 12th, punters will be able to experience delicious cheese-fuelled experiences from the comfort of their home. That’s right, the Say Cheese Festival is going ahead as a digital-only festival.

Ready to make lockdown 2.0 a little bit easier, this three-day cheese festival offers attendees the chance to learn all about Fromage with masterclasses, cooking lessons, toastie-making competitions and so much more. The best bit? Every single event on at this digital festival is FREE to attend.

So what can you expect from the virtual Say Cheese Festival in 2020? On Thursday, September 10th get ready to tune into an evening dedicated to ‘Around the World with Cheese’. Embark on an international journey of cheese as Prahran Market Traders take guests on a virtual cheese inspired trip around the world.  Ticket holders can register for free to learn about different varieties of cheese, their tastes, textures and uses.  A tasting box will be available for purchase via Prahran Market’s Food Lover’s Direct for those who want to taste along as well.

On Friday, September 11th enjoy an evening cooking class featuring a cheesy Greek dinner with Kathy Tsaples. Sweet Greek’s Kathy Tsaples will guide guests through preparing a delicious three-course Greek meal. Of course, each of the dishes will champion cheese and be perfect for a Friday evening. If viewers want to get in on the action, they can purchase the accompanying recipe kit boxes from Food Lover’s Direct and cook-a-long with Kathy.

Finally, on Saturday, September 12th, get ready for an afternoon of cheesy goodness at the Grilled Cheese Invitational. Back for its third year, the Grilled Cheese Invitational will pit some of Melbourne’s best chef talent against each other to create the event’s best cheese toastie. The Invitational will see each of the participants preparing their toastie before the judges score on name, appearance and taste. Past winners include Kay-lene Tan from Tonka and Darren Purchese of Burch & Purchese.

The virtual edition of the Say Cheese Festival will take place via Zoom from September 10th to 12th, with events running via Zoom (details about registration coming soon). To stay up to date with the latest news about the festival, visit the Prahran Market’s website here.
