The only place to hibernate this winter is at The Bridge Hotel’s laneway festival.
In the midst of Melbourne’s winter, most of us just want to sit on the couch, blast the heater and complain about the “bloody cold”. If you’re like me and haven’t managed to escape to the warmer parts of the globe, it’s time embrace winter with The Bridge Hotel’s laneway festival HIBERNATE.
Having launched at the start of our winter solstice in June, Melbournians can pay homage to the darker side of winter at The Bridge Hotel at this immersive festival that plays on Melbourne’s love of food, performance and laneways. Think fire drums, DJs, faux fur hides and eerie foliage installations by local Richmond florist, Glasshaus.
Warm your heart and feed your soul with carb-filled dishes straight from the fire pit menu. Fancy a roasted lamb shoulder bun with gravy, followed by freshly do-it-yourself roasted marshmallows? From 2pm (until sold out) every second Saturday, $15 gets you two dishes, or $30 affords you the luxury of all four. Wash it all down with eclectic cocktails featuring featuring Jagermeister ($12 each), which will surely get the blood pumping on those chilly nights.
No festival is complete without some good tunes. Each fortnight, HIBERNATE will feature a line-up of local DJs, which will run until the end of September.
So get off that couch and head to The Bridge Hotel to shed those winter blues. After all, you don’t need much energy to eat good food, drink delicious cocktails and keep warm by the fire.
The next fortnightly HIBERNATE experience will be on Saturday 14 July 2018. Check other dates here
