Maeve O’Meara explores the bounty of water in her new Food Safari Series – catch all the action for yourself!
Maeve O’Meara needs no introduction, gracing our television screens for the last 20 years with her infectious food adventures. Now in an exciting new adventure for the foodie queen, O’Meara dives head first into the dynamic world of Australian seafood in her new Food Safari series, titled ‘Water’.
A celebration of hardworking fisherpeople, divers and foragers, processors and smokers, O’Meara gives us an intimate first hand glance into the oceanic underworld. Chefs and home cooks share their treasured recipes and techniques with each episode.
Episode 1 airs on Wednesday 1st August at 8pm on SBS and SBS on Demand, as Maeve journeys into the top end of Australia to seek out wild barramundi local fisherman Billy Boustead and his chef friend, legendary Darwin and Alice Springs restaurateur Jimmy Shu (Hanuman). It’s from here that Maeve and her crew journey to the Sydney Fish Market with De Costi’s chief buyer Carmelo Lombardo, accompanied by renowned seafood chef Steve Hodges. After discovering how sea salt is produced in the Spencer Gulf South Australia, Maeve takes a closer look at how rock salt is used in a classic Sicilian recipe for whole baked snapper at Olio Kensington Street.
Food Safari Water will be comprised of a 13-part series showcasing great seafood dishes.
