Rosie Campbell's Surry Hills- a Jamaican jerk diner and rum bar built for good times

Rosie Campbell's is a Caribbean jerk diner and rum bar on the corner of Crown and Campbell Streets in Surry Hills, from the team behind The Soda Factory. It's a bright, colourful space of palm-leaf patterned tables, flags strung across the ceiling and rattan lights, built around home-style Jamaican cooking with an American twist and a rum list running well over one hundred bottles deep.

The Famous Chargrilled Jerk Chicken is the dish to order, a wood-smoked half chicken finished on the flame grill with jerk sauce, house slaw, pickled onion and lime. The Curry Goat, slow-cooked for six hours in a rich spiced sauce with roti, and the Kingston Coconut Pepper Prawns in scotch bonnet coconut sauce are both worth chasing, and Rosie's Signature Rum Cake with coconut caramel and vanilla bean ice cream is the way to finish.

The venue leans into its live music program, with weekly reggae, vinyl DJs and performers keeping the energy up well into the night. Between $1 jerk wings on Tuesdays, a Wednesday seafood boil and a bottomless daiquiri lunch running Friday to Sunday, there's a reason to drop by most days of the week.
