Vitelli's Upstairs brings old New York red-sauce dining to Wunderlich Lane
The Grana team, House Made Hospitality's Stephen Seckold and Elliott Pinn, are behind this Italian diner built around fresh pasta made daily. The menu reads like a greatest-hits list: familiar pastas, crispy lasagne bites, porchetta ribs, Milanese and multiple takes on tiramisu. There's also a spicy Caesar salad that's worth your attention. The must-order dish is their Pipe rigate alla vodka, chicken parmigiana. It's their signature vodka pasta dish topped with a chicken parma.
The venue shifts as the night progresses. Early evening runs as a proper restaurant, then DJs arrive, and the mood loosens around the 20-seat cocktail bar. Expect crisp Italian cocktails and an interactive amaro basket. They do a good dirty martini and one of the best bellinis we've ever tried.
The late-night menu delivers a Sicilian bao stacked with Italian sausage, mozzarella, and agrodolce-pickled peppers, plus a Calabrian chilli and stracciatella cheeseburger. It's designed for those in no hurry to leave.
