Club 77

Club 77 is leading the way to growing old stylishly, relaunching as Sydney’s premiere late-night dive bar destination.

Primed to restore Sydney nightlife to its former late-night glory, Club 77 will be open seven nights a week until 4am with free entry Monday to Friday. Expect multiple happy hours, a stylish new fit-out, three new stages and an all-new music programme showcasing the best DJs and live music in the city. Like most creative entrepreneurs, Club 77 Director Dane Gorrel was forcibly transposed to a year of quiet contemplation during the pandemic. The result is a chance to take stock of the venue's overwhelming success as Sydney’s home of late-night dance parties and to consider what the future should look like for the Sydney institution.   “Our entire team is passionate and dedicated to not only the electronic music scene but rebuilding Sydney’s after-dark culture. We are establishing 77 as a renewed late-night live music venue that is always open until 4am, while providing a platform for artists, DJs and live acts to perform seven nights a week.” - Club 77 Director Dane Gorrel 77’s all-new fit-out, inspired by the makeshift aesthetic of New York’s dive bars, features stylish sleek new furnishings and booth seating. Centre stage, a cutting-edge custom DJ booth flaunts a pumping KV2 Audio system specially tuned by Translate Sound. Continuing to champion electronic music, punters are guaranteed a curated soundtrack from experienced and knowledgeable DJs every night of the week. A revived weekly schedule of programming will include also old favorites and new friends bringing the best local and international DJs and live acts to the club every Friday night. The bar is shaking things up with not one but TWO new happy hours. Enjoy cheap drinks Monday to Friday from 5pm-7pm. And, for the night owls and hospo hounds, a second late night happy hour will kick on from 2:30am-3:30am aiming to put Sydney’s late-night scene, back on the map. On the food front, a mouth-watering ‘77 Dog’ created by Antoine Nebula of cherished Surry Hills cafe Suzie Qs will be available in two versions: gourmet pork sausage and mushroom for the vegetarians/vegans. Club 77 will continue to lead the way with a forward-facing approach to inclusivity and community. Future plans and initiatives will include activating the space during daytime hours as a community hub for first nations artists and the LGTBQI community, DJ and production workshops, marketing and promotions workshops, and projects surrounding mental health awareness within the industry, and paid internships. Club 77 reopens with its all-new offering Thursday 12th May. Find out more and check out 77’s upcoming events here.
