The Toxteth

The Toxteth, affectionately known as the Tocky, has been holding down its spot on Glebe Point Road since 1882, making it one of the neighbourhood's longest-running locals. It's the kind of pub built to cover every mood: a dog-friendly beer garden and courtyard out front for sunny afternoons, a dedicated sports bar inside with big screens for catching the game, and Tocky Terrace upstairs for skyline views and a slightly more polished night out.

Executive Chef Scott Greve leads the kitchen, reworking pub classics into something a little more considered without losing the comfort factor. Expect share plates like Szechuan spiced calamari and loaded hummus, hearty mains like a 12-hour slow roasted porchetta and shepherd's pie, and the usual roster of burgers, schnitzels and a proper chicken parmigiana. The bar keeps pace with a rotating selection of local beers, a sharp wine list and a solid rundown of house cocktails, including carafe options built for sharing.

Beyond the food and drink, the Tocky leans hard into being a genuine community pub, think weekly trivia, live sport across the codes, and flexible function spaces for birthdays, work parties and private dinners. It's close enough to the CBD to pull city crowds, but still very much a local at heart.
