Attached to Australia's biggest independent distillery, Archie Rose is the bar and cellar door tucked into a working warehouse on Mentmore Avenue in Sydney's Rosebery. It's equal parts tasting room, cocktail bar and Sunday session spot, with the actual stills setting the backdrop. You could come for one flight and end up staying for three.
In August 2026, Chris Hemsworth announced he's joining the Archie Rose crew as co-owner and will launch a bespoke set of whiskies using 100% Australian-grown malt.
There is something properly satisfying about drinking the whisky in the same building it was made in, and Archie Rose leans into that fully. The bar sits alongside the working distillery, so the room has that raw, industrial energy rather than the polished sheen of a city hotel bar. The cocktail list draws on old recipe books and house made spirits you cannot get anywhere else, poured by staff who clearly know their stuff without ever making you feel like you should already know it too. It is the kind of place that works equally well for a serious tasting flight or a loose Friday session with mates, and the food, from a local producer, is built to match rather than compete with what is in your glass.

EAT: The Italian toastie, packed with wagyu salami, sopressa, provolone, peppers and pesto.
DRINK: The Roast & Toast, single malt whisky shaken with cold brew coffee and topped with a s'mored marshmallow foam.
PLAY: Book the distillery tour before you drink, then wander next door to the bar and let a tasting flight turn into a proper session. Sundays are ideal, since the bar closes early at 8pm, so it becomes a long lazy afternoon rather than a late one.
