After a major redesign and complete Public Bar overhaul, The Strand Hotel and Darlinghurst institution is back with a bold fresh look, a new culinary direction and an all-burger menu led by Toby Wilson (Ricos Tacos, The Norfolk) and Solotel’s Executive Chef Hamish Ingham.
To mark the relaunch, they’re celebrating the only way they know how, with $5 burgers for five days straight (20–24 August). It’s the perfect excuse to round up a mate and try every single one of the six new burgers – from the cult-worthy smash to the surprising (but brilliant) smashed prawn.
What to Eat: Smashed Burger or the fried chicken Hot Bird
What to Drink: Aloe Sour: gin, mango wine + aloe = dangerously smooth
When to Go: A weekday lunch with a side of nostalgia or a cosy night in by the reinstated fireplace
Cost: Every burger is $5 during launch week
Where to Play After: Wander down to Shady Pines for a whisky or two
Vibe Check: Heritage pub meets moody art-deco bistro, polished, buzzy and still unmistakably local
Book It: No booking needed, just walk in from 12 pm daily
