The Clock Reopens With A New French-Inspired Menu

Eat, Sydney / 5 November 2021

Say bonjour to The Clock’s new menu, featuring French bistro classics with a light and fresh Surry Hills twist.

Unlike the rest of us, The Clock was productive in lockdown having renovated it’s ground floor bar and overhauling it’s bistro and drinks menu. The iconic Surry Hills pub now serves up a fresh, French-inspired menu with a Surry Hills twist. Think, Steak Tartare, baked Escargot with toasted baguette and garlic butter, Cheese and Truffle Frites, twice-baked GruyeÌre Cheese Souffle, Tuna Niçoise Salad, Moules Frites, and of course, Steak Frites with Café de Paris butter and fries.  A versatile menu that works both for sharing or savouring all to yourself.

There’s a new and improved drinks list too with highlights include the carafes of Vin de Rouge, Blanc, Rose, and Naturel et Orange. There’s also some sustainable and biodynamic organic options.

Whilst a pub feed is something we will never take for granted again, it’s worth noting that these French favourites do come at the sacrifice of the Aussie pub favourites – so warn your friends this is not the place for your Parmie-fix.

Nevertheless, The Clock offers the perfect spot for a casual post-work drink or mid-week date night. We recommend finding a (sought-after) balcony spot at golden hour, enjoying the Surry Hills sunset with a cocktail in hand then settling in for the night and indulging in a few plates to share.
