North Bondi Fish Just Announced A Limited-Time Collab With Kepos Street Kitchen

Bars, Eat, Restaurants / 20 June 2022

North Bondi Kepos is the Middle Eastern-inspired pop-up setting up shop at NBF this winter, promising an experience that is equal parts party and banquet.

Bondi has scored a plethora of new venues of late. Da Orazio just launched a 30-seat jukebox bar, Mikey’s Pizza – the New York pizza institution – just moved on to Bondi Rd, and as of June 30th, the beachside suburb will score a limited-time pop-up guided by hospitality heavyweights Matt Moran and Kepos Street Kitchen’s award-winning chef, Michael Rantissi.

North Bondi Kepos promises equal parts party and banquet, sweeping you up in the atmosphere and generosity of spirit as soon as you walk through the door. Offering an oh-so-welcome opportunity to experience the venue’s show-stopping views before your morning coffee, doors will open from 8am for a breakfast feast. Highlights from the breakfast and brunch menu include: shakshuka featuring soft baked eggs, tomato, capsicum, tahini and pita bread; and Crumpets by Merna with Pepe Saya butter, raw tahini and date molasses.

Perfect for a long and indulgent get-together with friends, the lunch and dinner menu is split into five sections: mezze – highlights include a warm hummus made tableside in a mortar and pestle; raw – think kingfish ceviche served with soy, apple and pomegranate; from the grill including swordfish skewers with homemade barbeque sauce; mains – with standout dishes including coriander crusted slow-roasted lamb shoulder; and sides – think brussels sprouts with mint, pomegranate and feta.

No NBF experience is complete without a cocktail or four to accompany the view, and North Bondi Kepos will be no different. NBF general manager Shay Cullen has designed a show-stopping selection to warm you up from the inside out this winter. The theatrical list includes; the ‘Figorita’, a twist on NBF’s most popular cocktail (the margarita) made using fig puree and homemade grenadine and served from a large ceramic teapot; plus a ‘Bergabomb’, an NBF spin on the classic Jagerbomb, made with a flaming shot of Arak dropped into a beer.

To complete your teleportation to the lively and exotic meyhanes of the Middle East, the venue will undergo a redesign; with everything from the place settings to furnishings, signage and art taking cues from Tel Aviv’s cultural scene.
