Gather Your Foodie Friends, An All New Three Day Food Festival Is headed For Kensington Street

Eat, Festivals, Sydney / 16 May 2022

Gather on Kensington St and prepare your palates for a sensational three-day lineup of specially curated festival bites and activations from Automata, LP’s Meats, Ester and more!

Kensington Street has earned itself a status as a true foodie haven. Combining heritage, hospitality, retail and art, it’s easy to lose track of the day as you give into exploring each little gem the precinct has to offer.

This June 3-5, our favourite foodie street will be turned into a three-day free street festival. From the organisers of Taste Festival and George St Long Lunch, Gather On Kensington St will see some of the city’s best restaurants and ‘new school’ NSW wineries taking over Kensington Street in Chippendale including Sydney-favourites Spice Alley and The Old Rum Store.

Automata restaurateur and renowned chef Clayton Wells has been tasked with curating the incredible food line-up which includes his very own, Automata Snack Party.

As you’d expect from any snack party headed by a twice hatted restaurant, the programme is laden with the culinary talents of some of Sydney’s best chefs including; Mat Lindsay (Ester), Luke Powell (LP’s Quality Meats), Trisha Greentree (Fratelli Paradiso and 10 William), Toby Wilson (Rico’s Tacos) and Mitch Orr (Kiln); to name but a few. Each will be cooking up creative, fun and original snacks to serve up at the party.

Devoted oenophiles, will have the option to sign up to ticketed 45-minute wine masterclasses held by top sommeliers Samantha Payne, Mem Hemmings, Louella Mathews and Chris Morrison.

And if ‘on the job’ learning is more your style, you can attend a specially curated wine-paired dinner. Sommelier Samantha Payne will present ‘Travel The Mekong’ – a five-course journey along the Mekong with matched NSW wines. Or, head to Jung Sung Contemp Korean Feat. Vinden Wines – the contemporary Korean restaurant will be showcasing wines from the Hunter Valley’s next-gen winemaker all weekend.

As well as unique snacks, special menus and masterclasses, there will be non-stop music, entertainment and special parties spilling out of the venues and into the streets, and we can’t wait to be a part of it.
