Make way for Flower Child Cafe

It may walk like The Grounds, it may talk like The Grounds but the newest cafe in Chatswood is set to make an impact all on it’s own accord. Flower Child Cafe in Chatswood Westfield has already got people lining up, and it only opened last Monday. It certainly has the Grounds of Alexandria aesthetic, with the same wooden fans, shrubbery hanging from the walls and ceiling, and even uses their hand-roasted coffee. But, we’re sure this little seedling is going to be blossom into something big.

Up the escalators from Victoria Avenue, it sits right next to the newly opened Top Shop and the bustling hub of Hawkers Lane; Westfield’s newest development. Here at Flower Child, their goal is to transport you away from being in the middle a busy shopping centre and take you somewhere special. The layout is reminiscent of a greenhouse, with the glass windows and luscious greenery coming out of every crevice.

You will certainly be eying the smoothie list, with tempting options including salted caramel and date and pina colada. We opted for the blueberry and banana, an irresistibly smooth mix of the two fine fruits. It tastes as good as it looks, promise!

Flower Child has an all-day menu for both breakfast, lunch and brunch, so you are quite literally spoilt for choice. And what they serve is authentic, flavoursome food that has some serious Instagram-able qualities. From the breakfast menu, we select one nice dish and one naughty dish. Both are equally as delectable (and dusted with rose petals for a nice touch.)

The fruit salad was a delightful surprise and most certainly the prettiest fruit salad I’ve ever had. Juicy chunks of watermelon, peach, apple, covered in pistachios with a scoop of yoghurt sorbet on top. But you would be missing out if you didn’t try their French toast. It’s an explosion of flavour with each bite, as you try the banana mascarpone, dark chocolate crumb, fresh berries and salted toffee all mixed together.

And from the lunch menu, we tried the Flower Child Tabbouleh. The crunchy quinoa and the zesty tabbouleh mix together well for a fresh and vibrant salad, topped with haloumi. It’s most likely we will be back to try the jaw-dropping bacon and egg burger with chipotle burger or their smoked chicken breast salad.
