Experience the flavours of Mexico at Sydney’s newest restaurant, tequila and mezcal bar, Esteban.
The crew from Tequila Mockingbird has been busy over the past few months. You might remember we covered the launch of their pop-up CBD bar, Tequila On York back in September. And now, the crew have set up in the same CBD space for good with a permanent new venue, Esteban.
Swinging open its doors on October 27th, Esteban is the second venue for the Atticus Hospitality Group. Finding its home inside an old printing shop, expect an innovative menu of authentic Mexican dishes to take you from street-food inspired bites all the way to larger share plates.
Esteban offers a split-level venue, including an upper-tier restaurant, basement taqueria, and mezcal bar. Plus, they’ve even got alfresco seating in their outdoor licensed laneway (open until midnight). The lower level boasts a 65-seater subterranean taqueria and bar, with booths and banquette seating. Heading upstairs, the intimate dining room boasts 45-seats with bold floor-to-ceiling Mexican murals by prominent Mexican painter Diego Rivera adorning the walls.
As for the dining room menu at Esteban, Executive Group Chef, John Frid has crafted a menu showcasing regional dishes and traditional Mexican culinary techniques. Blending regional influences with native Australian ingredients, expect everything from soft corn tortillas, charcoal-grilled meat and vegetables, Hiramasa Kingfish ceviche, and so much more.
For a more casual affair, head to the basement bar or alfresco laneway seating from Tuesday through to Saturday for lunch, dinner, and late-night bites until 12:30 am. Expect snacks and light bites such as tacos, ceviche and tortas. Why not wash it all down with Esteban’s signature Margarita flight featuring 3 mini Margarita-style cocktails paired with 3 signature tacos. Plus, you can even order the street kitchen menu for takeaway online too.
As for drinks, Esteban boasts the largest collection of premium tequila and mezcal in Australia. Behind the bar, Executive Bar Manager Mark Crawford and his team will offer an expertly crafted menu of signature cocktails spiked with house-made infusion, as well as premium tequila flights, and a dynamic selection of New and Old-World wines.
Esteban opens its doors on Tuesday, October 27th. Esteban Dining is open for lunch Wed to Fri from 12 pm to 2:30 pm, while Esteban Bar & Street Food is open from Tues to Sat from 11:30 am to 1 am. Find out more here.
