Sydney’s bar scene has just had a serious upgrade with the arrival of CONTE Sydney’s second venue, a multi-level bar from the team behind the Surry Hills hot spot!
Now officially open, Conte Sydney marks the next chapter for Raffaele Lombardi and Victoria Hampshire, the duo behind Surry Hills’ acclaimed Bar Conte.
Set in a prime Clarence Street location, the multi-level venue is an exercise in European elegance. Nine-metre-high ceilings, deep green marble, brass detailing, and custom Italian furnishings create a refined yet inviting atmosphere. Candlelit interiors and Milanese wallpaper add to the sense of occasion.
The kitchen, led by head chef Steven De Vecchi, delivers a menu rooted in classic Italian technique with contemporary precision. Expect dishes such as gambero rosso tartare with pickled jalapeño, lobster risotto with bisque reduction, and duck breast with beetroot purée. The venue’s layout caters to all occasions, from casual bar seating to plush banquettes and a private ‘Negroni Room.’
Drinks remain central to Conte’s identity. A 40-strong Negroni selection anchors the menu, complemented by Sydney’s most extensive collection of Italian vermouth, amari, and gin. A new food pairing experience, featuring Negronis and Martinis, joins a curated beer list of Trappist and artisan brews. Sommelier Marta Carruccio (ex-Bistro REX) oversees an exceptional wine program, including rare Italian imports such as Vulcanica Vodka and Marisa Cuomo Costa D’Amalfi wines.
With late-night dining, an immersive design, and a deep connection to Italian culture, Conte Sydney is poised to be a major addition to the city’s dining landscape. Reservations are now open via Bar Conte Surry Hills.
