Phillip St Sydney

Phillip St Sydney — contemporary Greek generosity in the heart of the CBD

Sydney's CBD now has a Greek restaurant built for long lunches. Phillip St sits on the ground floor of the Deutsche Bank Building, part of The Assembly, a revamped arrival and hospitality space at 126 Phillip Street. Warm Mediterranean hospitality is the idea, aimed squarely at the city's working crowd, whether that's a client lunch that runs long, after-work drinks or a weeknight dinner with friends.

The menu is designed for sharing. Start with handmade pita or village bread and work through the dips, from taramasalata and smoked eggplant to spiced feta. Small plates include yellowfin tuna crudo, split king prawns, octopus, Cypriot sausage and saganaki, with halloumi fries for the table. Bigger plates come off the charcoal grill, like organic chicken souvla and swordfish kalamaki, alongside spanner crab pasta and SA mussels. The slow-roasted lamb shoulder is built for a group.

For bigger tables, two parea banquets mean nobody has to fight over the ordering. Phillip St trades on weekdays only, so it's set up for the Monday-to-Friday city rhythm. Private dining is available for groups that want a room of their own.
