Monday doesn’t have to be so blue. These Sydney restaurants are open for business, and booking a seat may be the best way to get through the week.

From Rose Bay to Elizabeth St., these Sydney restaurants are open to dine in on Monday. We’ve tried them all and can confirm a booking at one of them will help make Mondays your new favourite day of the week.

Armorica Food

Armorica, Surry Hills

Inspired by the Grand Brasseries of France, Armorica is a glimpse into Parisian dining in Surry Hills. Seamlessly blending French cooking with a vibrant atmosphere, Armorica has quickly become the neighbourhood go-to for French cuisine. You’re probably acquainted with their famed signature Armorica chocolate bar, perfect for smashing and sharing (no judgement if not) with your nearest and dearest. Bon Appetit!

Monday hours: 5-11pm.

Ideal for: A friendly rendezvous.

Catalina, Rose Bay

A darling waterfront restaurant famed for its upmarket seafood dishes and open veranda bar, Catalina is turning 30 this year. To mark the occasion, they’ve launched a 6-course tasting menu to be enjoyed alongside dazzling sea views in Rose Bay. The menu is typically $220, available at a discounted price of $180, for a limited time. Menus change daily, prioritising sustainably sourced seafood and local produce. Catalina is open every day, including Monday.

Monday hours: 12-10pm.

Ideal for: Date night, a special occasion.

This hatted Mexican restaurant Esteban can be found tucked away on Temperance Lane in the CBD. Open every day, including Monday, Esteban is the perfect place to loosen your collar after the first day back to work. Their happy hour goes from 5-6pm on Monday, so you can nab a great deal on two-hatted food and sip on $12 cocktails while you’re there.

Monday hours: 5-11pm.

Sydney’s original wine bar, de Vine Food & Wine, raises a glass to 21 years in business this year. Housed on a corner where Market and Clarence streets meet, de Vine serves authentic, house-made pasta and boasts a collection of 500+ wines. The interior is cosy, with a charming ambience similar to what you’d get in Italy. Expect hearty, authentic dishes and warm hospitality when you visit.

Monday hours: 11.45am-10.30pm.

Ideal for: Date night, an after-work rendezvous with an old friend.

Luke’s Kitchen, Pitt St.

Located in the Art Deco lobby of Kimpton Margot Hotel on Pitt Street, Luke’s Kitchen is the brainchild of celebrity chef, Luke Mangan. Luke has worked closely with the restaurant’s head chef, MJ Olguera to prioritise seasonal produce and high-quality ingredients in every dish. Monday is Sashimi Night, where you can nab three different types of fresh Sashimi: Spenser Gulf Hiramasa Kingfish, the Tartare of Tasmanian Salmon, and the Carpaccio of Coffs Harbour Yellowfin Tuna for $55pp.

Monday hours: 6.30-10am & 5-10pm.

Arturo’s Rooftop, Bourke St.

Atop Sydney’s historic Woolly Bay Hotel, you’ll find Arturo’s. Boasting front-row seats to Sydney Harbour, Arturo’s has a casual vibe about it. Although the restaurant is closed on Monday, the rooftop is open for dining (and unbeatable views). The 120-seater evokes Euro-inspired beach club vibes and has a menu full of Med-inspired dishes. Pop in between 5-6pm for sunset hour – a $15 spritz veneziano is a sure antidote to Monday blues.

Bopp & Tone, Carrington St.

Bopp & Tone is chargrilled fare in a vintage setting. Their Australian menu is centred around generous and authentic share food, heavily influenced by Mediterranean cuisine. Dishes are predominantly cooked on the in-house grill or charcoal oven, to accentuate flavour in every dish. Bopp & Tone prioritises seasonal ingredients, with a seafood-leaning menu and a selection of both cured and cooked meats. On Monday, their lengthy happy hour runs from 3-6pm, featuring $16 Aperol spritzes and Tommys margs – yes, please!

RAFI, North Sydney

Hatted for a reason, RAFI’s menu by Executive Chef, Matias Cillóniz is fresh and seasonal, inspired by Sydney’s coastal elements. Matias has prioritised the use of local, colourful produce in each dish. At RAFI, sustainably sourced seafood and vegetables are cooked over charcoal and presented on small plates for you to mix and match. Happy hour runs from 3–6pm on Monday – including $10 Aperol spritzes and extends to the kitchen with a snack bar menu, featuring a selection of $12 crisp sourdough pizza.

Bistro George, George St.

Bistro George lives on the second floor of the iconic Jacksons on George building and is open every Monday. This one-hatted eatery is just a stone’s throw from Circular Quay. Head Chef, Steven Sinclair (ex-Icebergs Bondi) collaborated with restaurateur, Maurice Terzini to produce a refined European-Australian style menu. You can enjoy a two-course set menu for just $70pp Monday-Friday from 5.30-9pm, or upgrade to three courses for an additional $15.

Nestled on the corner of Bourke Street in Surry Hills, sibling restaurant to the fine diner and degustation restaurant, Arthur, Jane is known for its take on modern Australian dining, offering the best Australian produce and ingredients in a laidback space. Happy hour runs from 5-6pm on Monday, so you can grab an extra deal and enjoy $10 cocktails, wines & beers and $2 Sydney oysters.
