Opera Bar Sydney serves the suburbs

Opera Bar Sydney is the harbourside bar and restaurant at the Sydney Opera House, now built around a market kitchen that tours the city’s suburbs. Expect spring rolls from Bankstown, mozzarella from Auburn and falafel from Bondi, all eaten beneath the sails.

Applejack Hospitality, the group behind The Botanist in Kirribilli, The Butler in Potts Point and RAFI in North Sydney, runs the venue alongside neighbouring Winnie’s.

Design studio Luchetti Krelle swapped the old blue nautical look for a deep green palette, with new bars, furniture and lighting throughout. The menu from Culinary Director Patrick Friesen and Executive Head Chef Daniel Cooper runs across Asian and Middle Eastern inspired dishes, a dedicated pizza kitchen and modern Australian classics, with producers like Banh Mi Bay Ngo, La Stella and The Fermentalists named on the plate. The drinks list backs NSW breweries and winemakers, then adds playful cocktails inspired by Aussie favourites. Live music runs every night, curated by Arts Matter, so a quick drink has a habit of turning into the whole evening.
