Harbour Rocks Hotel

Harbour Rocks Hotel, sandstone and stories on Harrington Street

Harbour Rocks Hotel is a boutique hotel with 59 rooms inside an 1887 sandstone warehouse on Harrington Street in The Rocks. The building does a lot of the talking, and the bar and restaurant keep the conversation going.

Most hotels in the area want you looking at the harbour. This one wants you looking at the walls. Original brick and sandstone run through the building, and with no two rooms quite alike, a stay here feels like moving into a corner of old Sydney rather than checking into a standard box. Some rooms began life as tradesmen’s cottages, others look towards Circular Quay and the Opera House, and the top suite has a rooftop terrace with its own BBQ.

Downstairs is Tayim Restaurant, a Levantine-inspired offering built around sharing, with Head Chef Youssef Anid pairing quality Australian produce with traditional flavours. Eric’s Bar is the small, sociable one, named after the sailor said to still wander the halls. Bring a friend, order a few plates for the middle of the table and let the afternoon get away from you.
