The Clock Hotel is one of Surry Hills’ most popular pubs, the perfect place to watch the footy and sink a few beers on the balcony. As of this week there’ll be another reason to visit this Crown Street establishment, it’s called The Whisky Room. Located inside the pub this new bar has been designed to feel like a cosy den full of collectables including old sporting trophies, leather bound books, fishing rods and vintage maps. Booths and high tables fill the space with a balcony overlooking the courtyard, perfect for people watching.

The Whisky Room is open every Wednesday to Sunday and welcomes everyone from the whisky novice to utter enthusiast. The menu offers over a hundred different whiskies from all over the world including Islay, the Highlands and the USA, as well as Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia.
Can’t decide where to start? Try one of the monthly Whisky Flights – three hand-selected whiskies chosen to highlight a region, country or brand. Or, ease your way into it with one of the Boiler Maker specials: a bottle of craft beer with a shot of matched whisky.

Prefer cocktails? Order a Whisky Sour, Penicillin (Monkey Shoulder, fresh lemon, honey-ginger syrup and smoky whisky float), Japanese Plum Sour (Yamazaki, plum jam, fresh lemon, plum bitters and egg white) or a Malt Express (Black Bottle, fresh espresso, vanilla syrup and Amaro), all $17 each.
If you’re in need of something to soak up the alcohol order pizza from downstairs-the pork & fennel sausage pizza with artichoke and mint gets our thumbs up.
