The Boathouse Group has brought their signature laid-back dining experience to North Wollongong Beach.
Sydney’s cherished Boathouse venues are renowned for their laid-back coastal charm and stunning waterfront settings. With popular locations in Palm Beach, Shelly Beach, and Rose Bay, these spots provide breathtaking views and a relaxed dining experience with delicious food.
Now, The Boathouse is bringing its signature vibe to North Wollongong, enhancing the vibrant food scene alongside established favourites like Babyface and K.malu. Located on the top level of the North Wollongong Surf Life Saving Club, this new venue is designed for a casual beachside experience that seamlessly blends with the local community.
Antony Jones, CEO of The Boathouse Group, shared his vision: “We aimed to create a space that feels like a natural extension of the community while also introducing something fresh and exciting. Whether you’re popping in for a drink with friends or visiting from out of town, there’s something here for everyone.”
Head of Culinary Mark La Brooy and Head Chef Lachie Houghton have crafted a menu that highlights the best produce from the South Coast while adapting to the seasons. Diners can expect everything from snapper and oysters to crustaceans and venison, from destinations like Tathra, Bermagui and even closer, Lake Illawarra.
The bar offering is perfect for sunny afternoons with a spacious terrace that backs right onto the water. Enjoy bites with your cocktails, like the Wagyu beef smash cheeseburger, Kingfish tostadas, prawn rolls, and buttermilk chicken sandwiches. A wood-fired pizza oven is also on-site for those after a slice or two.
For a more upscale dining experience, the inside restaurant accommodates 120 guests and features chic coastal furnishings. It will become the go-to for birthday celebrations and intimate date nights. Guests can expect dishes like charred octopus, Kingfish crudo, Blue Swimmer Ccab spaghettini, and rump steak with peppercorn sauce.
