Bondi’s Taqiza Relaunches Into Stunning New Space

Get ready to experience the ultimate fiesta even bigger and better than before. Milpa Collective hospitality group (the brains behind Bar Lucia, Santa Catarina and Sonora) is re-launching their iconic Bondi taqueria Taqiza, celebrating its sixth year. The move will be into one of Milpa Collective’s existing Bondi venues, with a new hacienda-inspired and laidback luxury aesthetic.

Drawing inspiration from a Palm Springs paradise, you’ll be transported to a refreshing oasis with Taqiza’s brand new look. The redesigned space takes cues from the original Taqiza but with a luxurious twist. Expect new chevron flooring, pastel pink walls, and charming decor that is relaxing and laid-back, yet still luxe and chic. In keeping with tradition, Taqiza will continue to host both new and established Latin bands every Sunday, with live music playing throughout. There’ll also be a vinyl DJ booth every Friday spinning out the best old school tunes and pop hits.

Sip on some of the best mezcals in Bondi as Taqiza’s re-launch promises to keep things exciting with their impressive selection of mezcals – the largest in the area. With over 150 bottles to choose from, the team have meticulously researched and curated a library of agave spirits, including some lesser-known distilled spirits such as Sotol. Highlights also include 5 Sentidos Arroqueno, Derrumbes Michoacan and Balta Wild Tepeztate.

Taqiza’s revamped drinks menu will feature classic and innovative cocktails led by the talented Luna Ercoli. It’s a taste of Mexico with a twist, as Luna incorporates her passion for mixology with flavours from around the world inspired by her travels. Sip on ‘Dangerous Love’ with mezcal, tequila, fino, lime and the slightest hint of chilli, or ‘Adios Pantalones’ with bourbon, pisco, hibiscus, watermelon and vanilla. Taqiza is also partnering up with Agave Lux to establish an “Agave Studio”, a premier agave bar and experience in Sydney. Working with the finest producers and mixologists in Mexico, Taqiza will offer tastings, masterclasses, and presentations featuring new and rare agave spirits, as well as pairings to agave.
