The Boathouse Balmoral
Set in one of Sydney’s most picturesque coastal suburbs you’ll find The Boathouse Balmoral. As far as waterside venues go, this is one of our favourites. Fishmongers Manly has been a local institution for the better part of a decade, serving up light tempura-style battered fish with delicious hand-cut thick chips. For a takeaway joint, the crew at Out Of The Blue Clovelly takes a distinctly different approach to grab-and-go dining. At this Sydney institution known for its epic burgers and of course, fish and chips, you won’t find any single-use plastic bags with paper bags and cardboard boxes on offer for big orders. Boasting stunning Pittwater views with plenty of alfresco seating, The Newport is a relaxed destination for all-day-dining. Seafood lovers won’t be disappointed with the selection here, boasting a dedicated Seafood Market menu of freshly shucked oysters, prawns, fish and chips and so much more.
Fat Fish, Annandale
Owned by brothers Manny and Jon Notaras, Fat Fish is a fish and chip shop that has been loved by locals and visitors for over 100 years! With so much experience and passion behind them, it’s no wonder Fat Fish is often quoted as the best fish and chips in Sydney. On the menu, you will find an array of fresh seafood, as well as burgers, fried favourites like Chiko rolls, and a gourmet section that includes the likes of Greek-style octopus and garlic prawns.
Charcoal Fish, Rose Bay
In the dreamy suburb of Rose Bay, you’ll find Charcoal Fish, a takeaway joint serving up restaurant-quality seafood and vegetables. Fich at Petersham
For those in the Inner West, Fich is a must-visit. Serving up sustainable Australian and New Zealand paired with seasonal local produce, you can’t go wrong when you order off their seafood menu. While they offer the grilled fish options you’d expect from any good fish and chippery, you will find a selection of snacks that set them apart. These include the raw salmon FICH tacos to the FICH poke bowl and ‘FICH’ popcorn ‘n chips. Their salads are also worth a try too, we especially love the fennel salad.
