Sarino’s Restaurant and Bar, Bella Vista

Bars, Eat, Sydney / 7 June 2021

Bella Vista ups its game with a restaurant and bar inspired by classic Italian flavours and impeccable craftsmanship.

The Hill District has traditionally lacked the restaurant and bar standards of the Sydney CBD. With the city being about a 45-minute drive east, the locals were crying for a brand new restaurant and bar offering that unites culinary perfection and beverage artistry. Italian glamour landed in The Hills when Sarino’s opened its doors in 2019. Located inside Mullane’s Hotel in the humble Bella Vista area, the restaurant has become a favourite spot for locals and visitors. With a brand new winter menu showcasing the best of Italian fare, combined with the seasons best ingredients, there’s been no better time to visit Sarino’s.

Sarino’s is brought to you by Momento Hospitality owner, Rosario Colosimo. With the nickname of Sarino when he was growing up in Calabria Italy, the restaurant is a true nod to his heritage. His favourite flavours and influences of Italian cuisine are highlighted across the menu with appetizers like salumi, house-made pasta, wood smoked and slow-roasted meats and fish, all in the Josper oven. Ex Masterchef contestant and Executive Head Chef Alex Keene has crafted a special menu for the winter where you will rarely find two dishes with the same ingredients. His motto is to not overcomplicate things and let the produce speak for itself – which is always a good sign.
A popular recommendation is to start with the rosemary-infused Wagyu fat candle with warm sourdough, made fresh in house. Followed by their Barramundi with charred corn, sugar snaps and salsa verde; a guest favourite. For dessert, guests often rave over their chocolate budino and buttermilk pannacotta that evidently has the best wobble we’ve ever seen.
Sarino’s is not only an impressive restaurant, but a cocktail bar for late nights, function space with private dining rooms for birthday celebrations and is fast becoming a popular entertainment venue. Sarino’s popular intimate private dining room, The Cellar, is wall to wall in speciality wines from their carefully curated wine list. The place is also home to fine Whiskey and the exclusive Sarino’s Bottle-Keep Program. With spacious seating, soaring ceilings and an open style kitchen where guests can watch chefs in action, it’s easy to see why this place is loved by the locals.
