Beachside Bliss At Its Finest: Promenade In Bondi Pavilion Is Now Open

Eat, Restaurants, Sydney / 8 March 2023

It’s going to be the new coastal dining and drinking destination on everyone’s lips this year.

The team at House Made Hospitality has done it again with the opening of Promenade Bondi Beach, their seventh venue in three years. Tucked under the Spanish roof of its home at Bondi Pavilion, Bondi’s hottest new restaurant is right next to the iconic beach, offering a whopping 900sqm of restaurant space, intimate private dining areas, a sprawling beachside bar and a kiosk for all your takeaway needs.

Promenade’s interior takes inspiration from the surrounding coastal landscape. Once seated, you’ll find soft hues and neutrals splashed across the restaurant, similar to the sandstone cliffs found at the Bondi to Coogee walk. Banquette seats are a subtle nod to the curves of the ocean coastline, whilst travertine tiles (that are textured like coral) can be found at the main bar. Function is not forgotten over aesthetics — the floor tiles at Promenade are all delightfully heated.

The dishes you crave when passing by Bondi Beach is exactly what Promenade will be serving up, with a delicious menu developed by Culinary Director Stephen Seckold and incoming Executive Chef Chris Benedet (Cirrus Dining, Monopole, Rockpool). Think fresh and grilled seafood, meats and vegetables, all with influences from coastal regions across the world like Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

For starters, choose between mud crab with green mango and chilli on aperilla leaves, toothfish skewers with sambal or pickled nori and trout roe. Mains feature a handful of pastas like squid ink calamarata with pippies and jamon XO, plus a rich snapper curry and Agrodolce pork chop with charred radicchio. Whatever you and your table are fancying, you’ll be sure to find something that pleases everybody.

Of course, no meal is complete without a cocktail, and Promenade’s menu is sure to impress. Beverage Director Jason Williams has curated a range of signature mixes to complement Bondi’s coastal outlook with a sprinkle of nostalgia. Set yourself up with a round of Sunnyboy Spritz (strawberry, ginger, Aperol, white wine) or The Buckler (grapefruit, pomegranate, sumac, currant tequila).

Promenade Bondi Beach is open Wednesday – Sunday for lunch and dinner, with additional days + breakfast added in the coming weeks. The Kiosk is open daily from 7am – 3pm. Find out more here.
