Bars, Drink, Just Open, Sydney / 3 October 2023

Martinez Restaurant, Terrace & Rooftop Bar in Circular Quay offers rooftop dining with a view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, along with a menu that draws inspiration from the Mediterranean coast.

Circular Quay has long desired more dining options. Recently, exciting venues like Pearl and the revamped Jacksons on George have emerged, transforming the scene. Martinez Restaurant, Terrace & Rooftop Bar, a captivating alfresco bar and rooftop oasis, is among these newcomers. It’s reshaping the dining and drinking experience in this iconic Sydney location.

Picture a vibrant rooftop adorned with lush greenery and illuminated onyx tables, offering a stunning view of the Sydney Harbour. Martinez entices guests with its Mediterranean-inspired cuisine and drinks, setting the stage for a perfect experience during the warm spring days ahead.

This splendid addition to Circular Quay marks the latest venture by House Made Hospitality, known for their successful venue Hinchcliff House. More recently, they’ve introduced Promenade and Easy Tiger, both situated in Bondi Beach. Martinez Terrace brings a taste of Europe to Sydney, drawing inspiration from the breezy dining and drinking culture of southern France and the Mediterranean coast.

Executive Chef Alex Wong, renowned for his culinary expertise at Lana, and Head Chef Andrea Sonnante, celebrated for his work at Sagra, dedicate themselves to bringing lighter French dishes to the Sydney dining scene. Wong suggests beginning with a fresh baguette served with cultured butter and caper salt. Then, explore an array of share plates like whipped roe with bottarga, LP’s saucisson, and Ortiz anchovies.

Seafood enthusiasts will relish the East 33 Rock oysters, chilled mussels with jus vert and Yarra Valley roe, fried calamari, and saffron tagliatelle with Blue Swimmer crab and fennel. Meanwhile, grilled swordfish with gribiche salsa highlights the Mediterranean influence. Classic French dishes like Steak Frrites and Mille-feuille with Tunisian-style brik pastry will transport diners to the heart of Provence.

Martinez Restaurant, Terrace & Rooftop Bar has carefully curated an exceptional wine list featuring classic Provence and Australian rosés. An entire page is dedicated to magnums, perfect for group gatherings and celebrations.

While the Terrace Bar was the first stage of Martinez to welcome us, the rest of the space has opened its doors for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering diners breezy views of the harbour bridge or a front-row seat to the kitchen action.
