DOPA Bonds With Bondi, Bringing Tokyo To The Eastern Suburbs

Get a hit of dopamine at this new Bondi eatery.

Bondi Junction is about to get a taste of Tokyo with the grand opening of DOPA, the renowned retro Japanese fast-casual eatery by The Devon Group. Known for its slow food ethos on quality, sustainability, and ethical food production, DOPA is ready to make a mark in the Eastern Suburbs with its menu items starting from as little as $10.50.

Scheduled to open its doors on December 8th, DOPA is not just another dining spot; it’s an allegory for a chemically transformative culinary journey, aptly named after the feel-good chemical, dopamine. Executive Chef Zachary Tan, formerly of Guillaume at Bennelong and Pier, along with Executive Pastry Chef Markus Andrew, a Le Cordon Bleu Culinary instructor, has curated a menu that equally focuses on sweet and savoury delights.

Drawing inspiration from the streets of Tokyo, DOPA offers a reimagined Japanese comfort food experience. The menu’s heroes are the Japanese donburis, featuring over twenty variations. From classic teriyaki chicken to innovative options like the cheeseburger wagyu or glacier 51 toothfish, there’s something for every palate.

To celebrate its arrival in Bondi Junction, DOPA introduces the Bondi Don, a vegan donburi boasting a plant-based beef patty, rice, tare, seaweed, sliced shallot, vegan cheese, secret sauce, and tomato sauce—a perfect choice for the health-conscious Bondi consumer.

Dessert lovers are in for a treat with DOPA’s popular mochi daifuku, featuring flavours like matcha, strawberry, and a vegan mango. The signature matcha and original cheesecakes seamlessly blend East and West flavours, providing a delightful end to your meal. Wash it all down with DOPA’s signature home-brewed iced tea in lychee, raspberry, and Yuzu flavours.

The vibrant menu is mirrored in DOPA’s sleek interiors, adorned with iconic red bricks, blue-tiled walls inspired by traditional Japanese waves, and playful Japanese graphics. The charming ‘DOPA Boy’ depicted on walls and menus encapsulates DOPA’s ethos—providing fresh and healthy ‘fast food’ that leaves patrons with a hit of dopamine.

And if you’re yet to try out one of their classic donburis, to celebrate the opening, DOPA will be giving away 150 FREE donburis between 2-5 pm on the 8th & 9th of December, to the first 150 people to claim them. You can choose to taste the new Bondi Don, Veggie Don, Chicken Karaage Don, Teriyaki Don or Angus Beef Don.

*Only one bowl per person, and customers must download the DOPA app to claim their bowl.
