Summer is here, and there’s no better time to soak up the sun and enjoy a day by the water. These beach pools are the perfect spots to cool off and embrace Sydney’s coastal charm.
Bondi Icebergs, Bondi
Bondi Icebergs is a must-visit spot when summer hits Sydney. Overlooking the world-famous Bondi Beach, it’s the perfect place to cool off, swim a few laps or simply take in the stunning coastal views. With its rich history and iconic ocean pool, it captures the true spirit of Sydney summer.
Maccallum Seawater Pool, Mosman
Maccallum Pool is another beautiful spot to spend a summer day in Sydney. With its timber deck, harbour views and heritage charm, it’s perfect for a relaxing swim or an afternoon in the sun. Tucked away at Cremorne Point, this historic pool offers a peaceful escape and one of the city’s most scenic places to unwind by the water.
Wylie’s Baths, Coogee
The Wylies Baths are a Coogee institution. Wade through the 50 yard pool, take refuge with a massage or a spot of yoga, or enjoy a sambo from the retro kiosk, all with a 180-degree view of the Pacific Ocean. Ladies, you can escape the mayhem at the much quieter, or so we’re told, Women’s Baths located just next door.
Parsley Bay Reserve, Vaucluse
Parsley Bay Reserve is a great place for a summer day out with family or friends. The calm swimming area is perfect for cooling off, and the park has plenty of picnic spots and a playground for the kids. A short bush walk will take you to a pretty waterfall surrounded by nature.
Fairy Bower Pool, Manly
Fairy Bower Rockpool is a beautiful spot for a summer swim, right along Marine Parade. The calm, clear water and ocean views make it perfect for a relaxing dip. With its unique triangular shape and sea sculpture backdrop, it’s one of Sydney’s most charming coastal pools.
Freshwater Rock Pool
Situated at the northern end of the beach is Freshwater Rock Pool. Commissioned back in 1925, this rock pool comes laden with rich history and charm. When the waves get a little rough, head to the rock pool to find the perfect retreat. You can either do some laps in the 50-metre pool or soak up the sunshine. Either way, you’re in for a treat.
Dee Why Rockpool
Head North for relaxed family fun at this summer hangout perfect for people of any age. Secluded at the end of the buzzing Dee Why Beach, the baths include a 50m lap pool for early morning swimmers, and a wading area for the young ones, or big kids who just want to bob along.
Murray Rose Pool
Enclosed by a wrap-around deck, the Murray Rose Pool is the ideal place for a casual dip. Lying on the fringe of Sydney’s iconic harbour, lounge back on one of the floating pontoons before taking a wander on the timber deck. Once you are done sunbathing head to the kiosk for a classic beachside snack.
Cronulla Beach Rock Pool
Acting as the halfway point between North and South Cronulla, this rock pool was recently revamped to include non-slip flooring and hand railings. Raised above sea level the southern suburbs pool is a great place to gaze out at the glistening ocean. At 50m long, the pool is a great way to start your summer health kick.
Shelly Park Beach Ocean Bath
Located on the fringe of Shelly Beach, this bath is an intimate affair for kids and adults. With its own sandy beach, the bath is usually awash with families armed with buckets and spades hoping to build the biggest sandcastle. The retro bath sits below a deco-inspired pavilion that is fitted with showers and toilets.
