Neil Perry’s newest venture, Bar Patron, gets ready to feed Sydneysiders with its innovative Mexican menu.
Rockpool Dining Group are well known for their array of impressive restaurants. There’s everything from fine dining destinations such as Rockpool Bar and Dining to cheap and cheerful hangouts like Burger Project. In an exciting new addition to the company, Rockpool have now joined forces with Patron Tequila to bring an innovative new Mexican bar and restaurant to Sydney, Bar Patron.
Situated in the heart of Circular Quay at the former Café Ananas site, this 90-seater Mexican restaurant and bar derives much of its inspiration from vibrant Mexican haciendas and Caribbean bungalows. Walk inside and you’ll find a white colour palette complemented by lush greenery and pops of orange leather upholstery and antique furnishings.
Like the name implies, Bar Patron will offer a bespoke collection of Patron spirits, including exclusive and special hard-to-find tequilas. No good tequila bar is complete without the classic margarita cocktail, and at Bar Patron margaritas are available with Silver, Roca or Platinum tequila.
As for the wine list, you’ll find drops from the Iberian Peninsula, including Spain and Portugal, as well as classic wine regions such as Argentina, Chile and the United States. Australian wines feature strongly, as does Champagne.
With Culinary Director Neil Perry at the helm, the food menu includes all the quintessential Mexican favourites. Think empanadas, tamales, quesadillas and tacos. Accompanying this will also be soups and small plates of esquites and tostadas, plus tortas and traditional sandwiches. As for the larger plates, diners can feast on everything from enchiladas, enmolada con pollo and shared taco platters. Perry stresses though that the food at Bar Patron is lighter than the typically carb-heavy dishes you find in Mexican eateries.
Doors officially open on Thursday 8th March at 5:30pm, with Bar Patron open daily for lunch, dinner and even a late night feed. Offering views of Circular Quay and the Harbour Bridge, Bar Patron will no doubt become a popular dining destination for lovers of Mexican cuisine and culture.
