Bar Copains is Surry Hills’ cosy new wine bar offering a relaxed ambiance & French-inspired dishes that will keep you coming back for more.
Bar Copains is becoming a popular afternoon hangout in the vibrant Surry Hills neighborhood. This cozy new wine bar offers a relaxing ambiance, a rotating menu of French-inspired dishes, and an extensive wine list including lesser-known French varietals.
The name “Copains” means “friends” in French, and this is reflected in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the bar. The space is decorated with vintage-style furniture, soft lighting, and a variety of artwork on the walls, creating a cozy and intimate setting perfect for catching up with old friends or enjoying a romantic night out.
Co-owners Morgan McGlone (Sunday, ex-Belle’s Hot Chicken) and Nathan Sasi (founding chef at Nomad, Mercado & Adelaide’s Leigh Street Wine Room) have a wealth of wine knowledge under their aprons. Wine connoisseurs will appreciate the plethora of bottles on the menu which have been personally collected throughout the years. From natural wines to traditional types and rare bottles, there’s something to suit your palate and they’ll easily point you in the right direction.
The menu is heavily influenced by French cuisine, with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients and seasonality. It’s constantly changing and is designed to be shared amongst your table with most dishes bite-sized. Since opening, the menu has seen grilled beef tongue with salsa verde and horseradish, pigs head fritti with sauce gribiche, chicken liver parfait with sauternes jelly and brioche & a must-try amaro creme caramel.
We couldn’t be more thrilled about this collaboration project between two incredible hospitality folk.
Bar Copains is open Thursday from 4pm, Friday & Saturday from 12pm, Sunday from 1pm & Monday from 4pm. Find out more here.
