Firelight Festival 2019

Festivals, Melbourne, Play / 24 June 2019

Melbourne’s Firelight Festival takes over Docklands this weekend with sights, sounds, smells and tastes of warm fire on dark winter nights.

The winter solstice is a time to celebrate the darkness of winter and to bring in the light with friends and strangers alike with eating, drinking and general making merry. So this weekend make sure you join in the festivities at the three day long Firelight Festival at Docklands where fire lights up the sky and infuses the delicious food and drinks on offer.

Flame jets, fire drums and nightly fireworks are sure to keep you warm and keep an eye out for the new water and light show that happens after dark! The fireworks are scheduled to begin around 8:45pm, however this is very much weather dependant and may change so try to arrive early and enjoy the entertainment.

With over 40 free performances a night from all corners of the globe there’s plenty to catch your eye. Look out for the likes of Bollywood dancers to a Mariachi band and enjoy the street performers, flaming jets, water and light shows, and of course the fire performers.

And of course it’s not a festival without an array of food and drinks on offer. Warm up with delicious, smoky, warm fare from some of foodie favourites, including Limp Briskit, The Soup Factory and Frencheese and look out for mulled wines and hot spiced ciders.

This is a free event which runs nightly from Friday 28th – Sunday 30th June at New Quay Promenade at the Docklands from 5pm – 10pm. Rug up and dress for the cold!

If you want to come in from the cold, try one of these bars in the CBD where they’re serving up hot and spiced boozy drinks to give you the wintery warm and fuzzies.
