The crew from Rara Ramen have revealed their next exciting ramen spot, Rara Chan in South Eveleigh.
The team from Rara Ramen has been taking Sydney by storm in recent years. After the opening of their original Redfern outpost three years ago, the crew has gone from strength-to-strength with a bunch of new venues dotted across the city.
They now boast a ramen-fuelled destination in Randwick as well as an all-vegan spot in Newtown (slinging bowls of 100% plant-based vegan ramen on Australia Street). And now, the team has expanded to the emerging foodie precinct, South Eveleigh.
Meet Rara Chan, the micro ramen joint now open in South Everleigh. You might remember this precinct from our recent story about Australia’s first permanent no-waste bar (which will be opening very soon nearby). In fact, this new spot offers just nine seats along their custom-built bar, making it an exclusive dining spot.
What makes this Rara location one-of-a-kind is its focus on a special kind of ramen known as “tsukemen”. Rather than hearty bowls of soupy ramen, this option is dipping-style ramen that offers cool, thick noodles and topped served separately to the broth.
There are two options on the menu – an ‘ebi’ (prawn and pork) or ‘gyokai’ (fish and pork). Expect thick, chewy noodles that are served cold (making it a popular choice for Japanese locals during the warmer months).
The broth is the same as Rara’s other venues, handcrafted off-site using a secret blend of traditional ingredients to give it that signature umami taste.
There’s also more than traditional Tokyo-style ramen on the menu along with a vegan rice bowl, katsu curry and so much more. And if you’re swinging by for a drink and snack, chow down on pork gyoza and chicken karaage at the bar.
To wash it all down, Rara Chan will be pouring Suntory Premium Malt beer on-tap along with tinnies of Yulis’ larger plus non-alcoholic Suntory-branded drinks from their vending machine out the back.
