New Opening: Melbourne Craft Brewers Mountain Goat Open Their First Sydney Brew Pub

Bars, Drink, Sydney / 9 October 2020

Mountain Goat, one of Melbourne’s iconic craft brewers, has landed in Sydney with its first brew pub in Newtown.

Newtown is known for a lot of things. From neighbourhood cafes to delicious cheap eats spots and plenty of colourful vintage fashion, there are tonnes of things to see and do in this thriving inner west suburb. And for those with a perchance for craft brews, we’ve found a new spot to grab a refreshing beer this spring.

Meet Mountain Goat Newtown, the first Sydney brewpub from this established Melbourne craft brewery. In fact, Mountain Goat is one of Victoria’s first craft breweries and has been slinging delicious craft brews from their inner-Melbourne brew pub for over 20 years.

So, what can you expect from Mountain Goat Newtown? Finding its home on the bustling lower end of King Street this new brew pub will bring a taste of this Melbourne brewery to the heart of Sydney.

The King Street venue is set to have a 12-hectolitre brewing system on-site with 12 beer taps pouring some of Mountain Goat’s best brews. Expect to sip fresh draught beer brewed on-site, including their new Newtopia Pale Ale along with classics such as their Steam Ale and Summer Ale (plus a bunch of seasonal brews on rotation).

Mountain Goat Newtown is set to be an exciting new hub for beer lovers, boasting 155-seats including a beer garden and full kitchen (serving both meals and bar snacks). The opening comes as Mountain Goat celebrate their 23rd birthday, a big milestone that now includes spreading their wings into a new state.

Mountain Goat Newtown is open now at 435-437 King Street Newtown, open from Mon to Sat from 10 am to midnight and Sun from 10 am to 10 pm. During COVID-19 restrictions the venue’s capacity will be capped to 70 patrons, all of whom must be seated while in the venue.
