Spice Alley
Chippendale · Pan-Asian hawker-style (Singaporean, Thai, Malaysian, Cantonese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Southeast Asian)

While the house specialities are designed to share, the rest of the menu allows for individual ordering, meaning you can devour a decadent main of sweetbread and crayfish vol-au-vent with fennel, cimi de rappa and vermouth, all to yourself. For dessert, flag down the roving brass dessert trolley layered with house-baked cakes, desserts, and petit fours delivered tableside during lunch and dinner, turning into a delicious afternoon tea trolley between meals. Just as impressive as the opulent menu is the space itself. Black Nero marble, brass detailing and deco chandeliers adorn the grand double-height mezzanine space. Next door in The Charles Bar, the ambience gets a little moodier with deep walnut timbers, mosaic marble floors and a commanding brass back bar. The Charles Bar menu projects a much more casual vibe. It begins with breakfast - freshly baked croissants and pastries; eggs Arlington with house crumpets; or the option to go all out with duck eggs and toasted brioche soldiers topped with optional caviar. From 11am, it transitions to the bar menu featuring decadent bar staples like chicken liver parfait with cornichons; and marinated sardines with fennel on a freshly baked baguette. The Charles Grand Brasserie will open October 21, 7 days a week for lunch and dinner, 12pm – 12am with The Charles Bar opening 7 days for breakfast, lunch and dinner, 7am – 12am.
