Taste the best of Australia at Taste of Coogee
The Taste of Coogee Food & Wine Festival is back with a bang for 2016 and will make you feel like summer has come early. With over 100 stalls dishing out the best food and beverages from Australia and beyond, plus over 40,000 other likeminded individuals like yourselves who are keen for a solid day of eats and treats, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.
The free event held at the Coogee Oval will be pulling out all the big guns this year, inviting along some huge names in the food and wine industry. Justin North (Hotel Centennial), Andy Allen (Three Blue Ducks and MasterChef winner 2012), Monte Koludrovic (Icebergs) and Mindy Woods (ex-MasterChef) are just a few of the celebrity chefs who will be joining us. Be sure to pick up a few of their tricks of the trade by booking a masterclass ($35).
Get a taste of some of the best eats from local favourites like Little Jack Horner, Poke, La Spiaggia and Coogee Pavilion. Or get your quick seafood fix at The Shuck Truck with their delicious oysters. You’ll also get the chance to experience a sample of Mindy Wood’s soon to be launched container kitchen. The pop up kitchen will serve you up a delicious plant based, seasonal and sustainable Mexican menu.
All that good food will leave you thirsty for some bevvy’s and vino so wash it all down with a couple of award winning beers and wines from Young Henrys, Sydney Brewery, James Estate Wines, Brokenwood, Petersons Champagne House, Geisen, Twisted River Wines plus many more. Be sure to leave some time to visit Jason Crawley, mixologist and bartender extraordinaire who will be sure to treat the eyes and please the tastebuds.
If all that food, wine and banter isn’t enough to entertain you, get ready to dance along to a impressive lineup of musical acts, including The Monkee’s tribute band, Monkee Mania, Martini Club and John Field Band. The kids will be kept busy at the Fun with Franky Show, jumping castles and rides area too.
By munching, sipping and grooving away all through the weekend, know that you’ll be helping many in need, with all the proceeds of the festival going towards the Coogee Lions, a wonderful organisation dedicated to raising funds for any local family that needs it. So here’s a big, early kudos to you!
