Spice Alley

Escape to the laneways of Spice Alley and you’ll be transported to a world of vibrant colours and flavours with cuisines from around the globe. Located on Kensington Street in the centre of Chippendale, Spice Alley is home to a sea of hawker-style eateries that traverse the vast landscape of Asian cuisine. Gin Lane

Serving 150+ varieties of hand-selected gin, Gin Lane is Chippendale’s answer to the raft of specialty bars that have taken over Sydney. Located on Kensington Street, the intimate bar welcomes the 18th Century into the present day with an inventive drinks list and sleek ambiance. With radiant lighting and a timber interior, this 18th Century townhouse setting perfectly recreates the simplicity of olden day London. Although the dark navy painted townhouse is undoubtedly the centre point of Gin Lane, it’s hard to ignore the extensive drinking options.

Located on the corner of Kensington and Outram Streets wine lovers of all experience are invited to visit the new urban winery Handpicked Cellar Door. Taste wines from around Australia and the world in one central place. Handpicked Wines pride themselves on ‘hand picking’ the world’s best regions and varietals to showcase. From Margaret River cabernet, chardonnay from the Yarra Valley to delicious pinot noir from New Zealand’s Central Otago.

Discover Chippendale Green

Get outdoors and explore the stunning architecture of famed architect Jean Nouvel and botanical artist Patrick Blanc who have created the world’s largest vertical garden building. The cantilevered heliostat reflects sunlight to the plants during the day, and make sure to check it out at night when the installation transforms into a dazzling work of art. Equally distinctive is the Halo, a dynamic wind-activated kinetic sculpture that turns and tilts in finely tuned counterbalance.
