Kylie Kwong & other big-name chefs will host pop-up dining experiences across the city, including an alfresco feast for 600 people in the middle of George Street.
It’s a busy time of the year and your calendar is probably looking chockers for the next month. But you’re going to want to make room for Sydney’s Open For Lunch on Friday 3 December. The hottest names from Sydney’s culinary scene including Luke Mangan from Glass Brasserie, Kylie Kwong from the newly opened Lucky Kwong, Palisa Andrson from Chat Thai and Mike McEnearney from Kitchen By Mike, are set to host unforgettable dining experiences on the streets and laneways of Sydney. Unassuming public spaces will transform into open-air venues with banquet tables seating up to 600 people!
The long lunch dining events will take place on Sydney’s George Street and YCK Laneways, the new dining precinct South Eveleigh and Parramatta Square. There will also be in-venue activations across Sydney, Chinatown, Barangaroo and Parramatta. This activation was launched by the NSW Government as part of the CBDs Revitalisation Program. It’s a great way to support the recovery of Sydney’s hospitality sector and reconnect with your community over a delicious meal.
Event highlights include:
George Street, Sydney CBD
In the heart of the CBD between Market and Park Street, George Street will transform into an alfresco dining venue for 600 guests. A three-course lunch will be prepared by Palisa Anderson, Mike McEnearney, Luke Mangan and Michael Nicolian. Be whisked away by live music from George Ellis Orchestra, featuring Josh Pyke, George Maple, Brendan Maclean and Liyah Knight. The lunch will be from 12pm – 3pm at $60 per ticket.
Paramatta
Sydney’s new food precinct, Parramatta Square, will be taken over by 400 seated diners. Ruse Bar & Brasserie, CicciaBella and LILYMU will serve a three-course plated meal with entertainment by renowned indie, RnB collective Winston Surfshirt (DJ set), genre-defining RnB star Milan Ring and soulful RnB hip-hop artist Nardean. The lunch will be from 12pm – 3pm at $50 per ticket.
South Eveleigh
South Eveleigh’s food precinct will transform into a one-day festival of food, drinks and dancefloor, celebrating the vibrant culture of the city’s inner-south-west. Two of Sydney’s defining names in food and drink, Kylie Kwong and Matt Whiley, will join forces to deliver a banging menu of noodles and cocktails. The Alfresco Disco will run across lunch between 12-3pm and dinner 6-9pm at $30 per ticket.
YCK Laneways (York, Clarence, Kent Streets in the Sydney CBD)
Experience the best of inner-city bar culture and take to the lanes in a celebration of Sydney. Several events will be staged including a long table luncheon at Barrack Street featuring a Japanese-inspired progressive lunch amongst other activations within YCK laneways and live music. The event will run from 12pm – 5:30pm with tickets ranging from $65-$120 per ticket.
