Speed Date Your Way Through Sydney’s Most Haunted Buildings

Cool Sh*t, Play, Sydney / 1 February 2019

Adding an extra dimension of terror to speed dating is the Quarantine Station.

Speed dating can be spooky enough at the best of times, as you awkwardly fumble your way through a group of strangers all looking for that sought after ‘connection’ with another person. Here to add an extra dimension of terror to the precarious world of dating is the former Quarantine Station, with the launch of ‘Speed Dating in the Showers’.

Hosted in Sydney’s most haunted buildings in the Northern Beaches, this thrilling single-mingle event isn’t for the faint hearted. Hosted by Stephen Lee, your evening starts with drinks and canapés on the heritage wharf from 6pm, where you can soak up some liquid courage before you hit the shower block (fully clothed, that is).

Well known as one of the spookiest buildings of Sydney’s former Quarantine Station, this particular site is where people were ‘processed’ by showering in a mix of water and carbolic acid as they entered Australia for the first time in the early 1900s. But don’t worry, you are not going to get wet!

Your experience continues in the Laundry, with a more civilised meal of share plates designed by the Executive Chef before joining a one hour Ghostly Encounters tour. After all, there’s nothing like a bit of adrenaline to spark a new romance.

The special spooky speed dating experience is hosted for one night only on Valentine’s Day, Thursday 14th February. Tickets are only $99 per person and include arrival canapés and a three hour drinks package, one hour of speed dating, dinner and a ghost tour. Getting you to and from the haunted site will be scheduled shuttle services, available back down to Manly after the event.

This event sees males with females pairing up between 25 – 35 years old, with tickets limited to 24 males and 24 females.
