Take An Epic Adventure And Ride Camels Across The Outback (Without Leaving NSW)

Cool Sh*t, Play, Sydney / 28 August 2020

Escape the city and take an epic road trip to outback NSW for an adventure to remember.

With international and interstate travel off the cards, for the time being, we’re all turning our attention to experiences and destinations to explore closer to home. That means finding new spots in Sydney to drink and dine (if you need some inspiration, check out our best restaurants in Sydney guide here). Plus that means looking outside of the inner city to weekend getaway spots all across NSW (here are some of our favourite luxe accommodation spots to book across the state).

But if you’re in the mood for a road trip with a dose of outback adventure, we’ve found just the spot to add to your holiday to-do list. And make sure to bring snacks, this adventure involves an epic 13-hour drive from Sydney to the heart of outback NSW (but we promise the drive is definitely worth it).

Tucked away in far north-west NSW is a town called Silverton. You might have heard of this spot before, as it was once a booming silver mining town and even the filming location for the recent Mad Max 2 blockbuster flick. But we’re here to talk about another reason why you should take the drive, and it’s got everything to do with an epic form of transport.

Meet Silverton Outback Camels, a family-run camel farm just a short drive from the heart of Silverton. That’s right, you can take a beautiful ride on a camel, surrounded by stunning outback views, without leaving NSW.

Silverton Outback Camels are offering a range of camel rides, including 30 minutes ($25), one hour ($55) or even a memorable sunset tour ($75). Plus you can take a trip to this family-run farm to meet the camels, sheep, goats, alpacas and other animals for $50.
