The Meat & Wine Co. to raise the bar for Sydney’s Steakhouse scene with SAFARI opening in Circular Quay.
Sydney hospitality stalwarts, The Meat & Wine Co are set to open another premium steakhouse in Circular Quay. The 200-seat diner on Bligh Street was designed by award-winning architects COOOP, with an interior evoking the South African bush. Elements of native animals, grasslands, and deserts are studded throughout and Meat & Wine Co. promises an Afro-centric menu to match.
Dishes will hone in on the flavours, spices, and subtle nuances of traditional South African food. Overseeing the food offering is the Head of Culinary, Sean Hall. Alongside premium steak, expect customary South African dishes like Bunny Chow – a tender lamb curry in hollowed-out miche bread. A decadent sticky Mulva pudding infused with South African liquor is just one of the many enticing desserts on offer.
Head Sommelier, Joseph Moussa has created a beverage list to perfectly complement the menu, with a nod to the group’s African heritage. On opening, there’ll be a choice of African-inspired cocktails, including the Naartjie (with fresh mandarin, African cream liquor, Hennessey, and espresso). The wine list is authentic, featuring a varied selection of high-end wines from South Africa whilst also paying homage to Australian wine.
Set to open its doors on Wednesday, 14th August, this highly anticipated venue will offer a dining experience that blends the South African heritage with the vibrancy of Sydney Harbour. Book ahead here.
SAFARI will be open Sunday-Thursday, 12-10 pm and Friday & Saturday 12-11 pm.
