You don’t need to be a tourist to enjoy a mini stay-cation at QT Bondi.
As Euro trip photos continue to flood social media, us mere folk not able to make it to the Greek Islands for a European summer shouldn’t feel too dismayed. After all, it’s easy to forget that we live in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Pack up your bags and don’t worry about making your way to the airport, nor that gruelling 24+ hour flight. QT Bondi is right on your doorstep, offering a ReBalance package to centre your chi and have you emitting that post-holiday glow, minus the jet lag.
If you’ve stayed at QT Sydney on Market Street, you’ll be familiar with its dimly lit, gothic interior and art deco fit out. QT Bondi offers a completely different feel. It’s the same boutique hotel chain, with a refreshingly bright and breezy identity.
Opening its doors back in December 2015, QT Bondi remains the only designer hotel in this beachside suburb, complete with 69 guest suites. Enter the shiny lobby and you’ll find a striking art installation plastered with oceanic inspired imagery: a bronzed lady donning a white bikini, a row of women holding beachballs in the air. There are more abstract shots of the sea, salt and sand – all feeding into the notion of the beachside locale. One that is literally at your doorstep.
Adding to the quirky and fun feel of the lobby is a peppering of statement furniture pieces. There’s a gorgeous teal coloured lounge, art-deco inspired chairs and neon flamingo and palm tree lights. The employees at QT Bondi are clad in colourful shirts, creating a relaxed first impression of the place.
With my overnight bag in tote, I’m given the key and ushered up the lift to my room. Entering the hallway, don’t let the low ceilings or the elaborately patterned carpet disorient you too much. It all feeds into the fun theatrics of the QT experience.
Entering the Deluxe King room, it feels less like a hotel room and more like a modern studio apartment. There’s a compact kitchenette complete with induction cooktop, microwave, dishwasher and bar fridge. The bathroom is generously sized, with his/her basins as well as a MASSIVE bathtub worthy of a very long soak teamed with a glass of vino. An equally large gel king bed may make you never want to leave the room. With so many cool activities at your disposal, it’s worth doing so though.
It’s the little features in the room that will also make you smile. Like beach bags hooked to the wall with his and her sized thongs. There’s also a tub of Paleo granola and two bottles of Capi mineral water greeting you on the table. Only in Bondi, right?
‘ReBalance in Bondi’ is QT Bondi’s latest feel-good initiative. As an extension of the hotel itself, you’re invited to create a personalised itinerary as a part of two new accommodation packages: ‘The Best of Bondi’ (one day) and ‘Bondi Staycation’ (three days).
Those looking to work up more a sweat are given 24/7 complimentary access to Speedos Fitness Club, which includes a range of classes including yoga, Pilates and body pump. There’s also an indoor lap pool!
If you’ve ever wanted to ‘do like the locals do’ than it’s worth signing up to a two-hour surfing lesson with Let’s Go Surfing. For $175 (1 person) or $260 (2 people), get picked up from the lobby and taken on a private class. You even get a free tee-shirt and coffee thrown in.
We have only good things to say about a stay-cation at QT Bondi. It comes down to the friendly, non-pretentious service, homely guest rooms and a wide-reaching array of fun and rejuvenating activities. If you’re looking to dust off those winter cob webs, why not book yourself in for a mini holiday beachside at QT Bondi.
Rooms at QT Bondi start at $249 per night. For more information on QT Bondi and the ‘ReBalance’ packages, click here.
